Many have wondered what her eating- and exercise regimen is, which made her lose more than 40lbs since she started her weight loss journey. And judging from her Instagram posts she's not slowing down. Before we look at Rebel Wilson's weight loss diet, it's important to note her mindset. Rebel Wilson set a goal for herself to get to a target weight of 75kg, (which is about 165lbs), and referred to 2020 as her "year of health". Having lost over 20kg she's still going strong. "Thanks for all the love so far on my 'Year of Health' journey - when I was reaching for the candies last night after dinner I thought to myself, “hmmmm...better not,” and had a bottle of water instead. ...8kg to go until I hit my goal - hopefully, I can do it by the end of the year." So, how did she manage this extraordinary weight loss? The eating plan the 40 year-old Australian actress used to get closer to her 2020 health goals, is called The Mayr Method. It's currently offered at luxe wellness spa, Viva Mayr in Austria. To complement her eating plan, she incorporates a dedicated exercise regimen under the guide of her personal trainer, Jono Castano. The Mayr Method is based on the "Mayr Cure," created by Dr. Franz Xaver Mayr, (an Austrian physician) and is an over 100-year-old method. It isn't specifically considered a diet, but rather a lifestyle change, and its emphasis is on clean eating and consuming a low carb breakfast, and regularly skipping dinner. Mayr was said to believe that everything is connected to the gut and what we eat or don’t eat, can affect overall health and wellbeing, including weight. “The Mayr cure combines modern complementary medicine with traditional diagnostics and therapies, according to F.X. Mayr,” with the goal of improving health through digestion. The philosophy of this diet is "an approach that eliminates food intolerances, reduces sugar, encourages eating whole foods slowly, boosts the immune system and reduces inflammation,” a source close to Wilson told People. The method eliminates snacking, reduces gluten and dairy intake, and encourages followers to follow mindful eating techniques like chewing food slowly and eating without distractions. It is thought that slimmers, who chew more, tend to eat less because the brain has the time to send signals to the stomach to indicate when it is full. The otherwise is that many people overeat, consuming more calories leading to weight gain. The meals are mostly centered around whole foods, and healthy food with high alkaline content, like; protein, fruits & vegetables, fresh fish, and vegetable juices that all help to provide plenty of nutrition to the body. This is very much like the dash diet. Pomegranate juice is allowed on the plan and can actually help reduce visceral fat, otherwise known as belly fat. The Mayr Method is recommended for two weeks at a time. The Viva Mayr facility that provides this plan, offers a consultation that will set you back more than $200 US, excluding the overnight stays. Even with a tight schedule, Rebel Wilson also works out 4-6 days a week doing weight training and High-Intensity Interval Training exercises 4 times a week.
